Butterfly Vine

6 comments:

  1. This is a seed pod on my butterfly vine which grows right outside my front door . . . the vine stays green most of the year . . . usually freezes back in January or February . . . and then comes right back to life in the spring . . . it is still green right now . . . and is covered with parchment-colored butterflies . . . this one is in a more protected area, and it hasn't quite completed it's color change . . . love the back-light from today's late afternoon sun . . .

  3. Fran . . . send me your mailing address (vickie dot everhart at gmail dot com) and I'll send you some seed pods . . . where are you in Texas? . . . I am in Dallas . . . and my butterfly vine is on the west side of the house, and is probably ten or more years old . . . it even survived the foot of snow and all the freezing days we had early in 2010 . . . but my sister south of Houston lost her newer butterfly vine to the freeze they had last winter . . . my original plant came from a clearance table at Walmart . . . I have given away numerous rooted plants over the years, but never tried growing one from seed . . .

  5. I probably captured about 50 images of the seed-pods on that plant today . . . but they were all those cookie-cutter images . . . I was not pleased with any of them . . . but just how creative can you get with a seed-pod? . . . then when I went back out late this afternoon I zoomed in on this one seed-pod . . . and probably took 20-25 more photos . . . this was the shot I had been waiting / watching for . . . I'll include some seed-pods when I mail that other stuff to you . . .
